This year, to celebrate Eila's second birthday, my niece Josephine's third birthday, and my niece Mary-Amma's sixth birthday, we threw a Candyland themed party. This year's party was even bigger than last year's Minnie Mouse party, so I'll be breaking my blogs about the party up into smaller sections. We're going to start at the beginning, though: the invitations.
Since it was a Candyland themed party, we needed to have candy themed invitations: lollipops. I had a bunch of scrapbook paper left over from previous projects, I purchased some lollipop sticks, used regular sandwich bags, and some colorful ribbon and got to work.
I still don't have a circle punch or a Cricut (believe me, I've been dropping the hints, but my husband still refuses to take the bait!), so I had to start old school.

After I traced and cut out all of the circles (two for each invitation), I sandwiched them together using packing tape to secure the lollipop stick inside:
Next, I downloaded a special Candyland font (the kind that looks like the peppermint stick lettering from the game box) and printed up the invitation details. I bagged them in plastic sandwich bags and secured them with ribbon.
To mail the invitations, I purchased plain greeting card sized envelopes from Staples and headed to the post office. Ta-da! Oh, and I used the extra invitations as decorations on party day.....but you'll have to wait for the next post to read all about it!
